Concert in the park

Sunday, instead of getting to go to the beach (because Uncle Mervin didn't tell Daddy), we went to the Singapore Symphonic Orchestra Concert in the park at Botanical Gardens.
It was warm, and very very crowded.

Thanks Mummy for suggesting we go to listen to the SSO. I loved it!

Yeah... Encore..Encore!!

Things I do when I can't sleep...

These are the things I do when I can't get to sleep...
1. Go for a walk..

2. Play with some toys..

3. Go for a concert in the park..

4. Go for a drive in Daddy's car..

5. Terrorise everyone with my smile..

6. Take a ride on a bike to get the wind in my hair..

7. Update my blog..

8. Disturb the neighbours behind..

9. Wake Mummy and Daddy up..

10. Read my books..

And usually after that, I can get to sleep... hee hee!

What do you do when you cannot get to sleep?

Sleepless nights....

Gabriel has been sick. He had fever for two days since Tuesday. The fever has gone but I think he is still feeling some sort of discomfort. He has been waking up every 2 hours at night, crying and cannot be consoled. I had to nurse him to calm him down and then it takes him another 30-45 minutes for him to fall back to sleep. Sigh... my poor baby. He is super tired I'm sure, and I am too.

Fred can't even help like how he used to as Gabriel doesn't even want him to carry. Hopefully this is just a phase that he is going through... he needs his Daddy and his Daddy needs him too.

Just went to see a PD and guess how much it cost? $96!! It's horribly expensive for a 10-minute visit. Fred is not too happy but what to do? Doc said Gabriel has croup (viral infection which causes swelling in the vocal cords, causing a barky cough). That explains to night-waking and laboured breath and gasping sound. Doctor gave him steroids to lessen the swelling... sob.. my baby is taking drugs..

So, what do you do when your child falls sick? I don't know.. please pray for his good health and my sanity.

Desperate Housewife?

It's been a year already, me being a SAHM. How do I like it? I enjoyed it very much, and still am. I love being the first to witness Gabriel doing his "firsts". He is already walking and enjoying that very much. He is babbling a lot more now and many words do sound familiar. Exciting huh? So, I am being asked by everyone I know... what's next? Am I going back to work? My leave is ending soon, mid-October. If so, what is going to happen to Gabriel?

Sigh... I've been pondering about his future for a while already. I do miss teaching and sometimes the kids, but most of all the relationship I had with my colleagues. (Whether I like it or not, being home for so long made me lose touch with many things. We can never find the right time to meet and catch up which saddens me sometimes.) I miss the spending power I had then, not having to think so much when I spend money which I was earning. I feel guilty buying things which are not necessary these days knowing that dearie has to work so hard for the money I spend.

Sometimes I do feel that I am losing myself as a person. I am a wife to dearie and a mother to Gabriel. But what am I to myself? Am I shortchanging myself from being what I have yet to discover? Am I becoming a lesser person than I should be? I don't know and I am still trying to figure out. Don't get me wrong here. I do love being a wife and a mother. I just feel that maybe I can play another role besides that.

Anyway, there was no option to whether I am going back to work or not. The only option was whether to quit or extend my leave. Being a SAHM is the best career move for me, for now at least.

In my second trimester, hollidaying in Perth.

How can I trade this with anything? :)

Gabriel pushing his pram around

Here comes the self-propelled pram! Watch out! I can't see in front!

Walking around on my own

It's been about a month since I started walking, and I'm having a real good time all the way. I can stand, walk, turn and sometimes even squat for a rest.. then carry on again.

At the Bedok Library, checking out the book index on the side of the book shelf. I later started taking out all the books I wanted to read..

Walking around IMM after lunch.

Pushing my own pram around.

I hardly lose my balance now and I'm fairly confident.

My new challenges are SLOPES and STEPS!

When I reach a step, I reach out for the nearest friendly hand.

Hey.. what do I do now?

My friend in Malaysia & Uncle Leo's Birthday

Mummy introduced me to her friend's daughter, Shania, when we went back to Kajang recently. According to Mummy, Uncle Kok Jau has already booked me to be Shania's boyfriend when we grow up next time... :)

We were very shy and kept to our own toys...

Aunty Melissa telling me to be a good boy.

Hopefully we will get to visit them again soon. I can't wait to play with that phone again..

Also, today the 18th is Uncle Leo's birthday! We went to Marina Square to eat at some pasta place called Spageddies. Mummy gave me some to eat and it was yummy yummy in my tummy!

After a while, I got bored and wanted to walk around.

Happy Birthday Uncle Leo!

"Balik Kampung" - Makan Time

That's what we usually do when we go back to Kajang - makan and shopping, besides spending time with family and friends of course.

1st stop, tea at a Hong Kong Cha Chan Tang at IOI Mall. Gabriel hanging out with his Kiu-Kiu, my brother.

The very yummy thick toast with peanut butter, deep-fried in hot oil and served with a dollop of butter!! Super sinful and super yummy!!

Next we had waffles with ice-cream. Quite normal until you taste it. It had peanut butter spread on top of the waffles!! Sigh... peanut butter is my favourite spread... heavenly...

Gabriel had a taste of the ice-cream too... "Oooo... cold cold..."

"Yay!! One more round, please Mummy!!"

Next stop, Bangsar Village. Name of restaurant, Chatterbhox.

Crispy noodles with a very creamy cheesy seafood sauce. Even nicer eaten with some sambal chili... very unique.

Baked rice with fried pork chop. Very creamy and cheesy too. Yum!

After all that eating, "Let's go shopping everyone!! What are you waiting for?" :)

"Balik Kampung"

We took a drive home, my hometown in Kajang last weekend and spent some quality time with my family there. Gabriel hasn't seen my parents since March and my mum has always been asking me about him, so we thought of taking the opportunity of a clear road last Friday to go back. Gabriel slept almost the whole way. Look at how comfortable he is..

He took a short while to warm up to my parents there.. and after that he was walking and falling everywhere, taking toys from his cousin (my sis' boy), getting my mum to read to him... It was good that he didn't take them as strangers, thankfully.

We left Kajang on Tuesday afternoon, a non-peak day. The road was really clear and we were back in Singapore in no time. In fact we took half as much time to get to Bedok from Tuas, thanks to the fireworks display at Marina.

"I'm home!!" Look at him smiling after a long long nap thoughout the whole journey. It was really good as I could rest and Fred could concentrate in driving. If he was awake, we'll have to entertain him.. Overall, it was a good weekend for all of us even though we didn't get much rest. Hope to do that again soon..

Video of me walking

Unbeknownst to me, Uncle Leo took a video of me walking!

You can view it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN_htdtDVxE

A little wobbly, but hey, that's how one learns, right?

I usually like to hold on to things when I walk around. Here, it's two small balls.

See you all soon!

Crazy Clip

It was all fun and games, with me playing peek-a-boo with Mummy.. when all of a sudden.. I felt a really painful sting on my finger..

Obviously I started crying..

and all Mummy and Daddy did.. were to laugh and take pictures..

Mummy picked me up in the end and soothed me.. then she smacked the culprit.. It was about 11pm and Mummy was amazed that I wasn't about to sleep too..

Crazy Clip.. ouch!

Catch you soon!
